10 Years GEC × Hyundai ×Codex: Building the Bridge to a Climate-Neutral and Autonomous Energy System
Ten years ago, the Green Energy Center Europe was inaugurated in Innsbruck during the first hydrogen journey from Norway to Italy along the Brenner Corridor. Since then, Hyundai Austria, FEN Systems, FEN Research and the Green Energy Center Europe Codex Partnership have worked together on a practical development path towards climate-neutral and autonomous energy systems. This documentary follows that journey from the Tirol 2050 Energy Autonomous strategy, through hydrogen mobility, competence development, Living Lab implementation and regional hydrogen economy initiatives, to today's autonomous hydrogen micro-infrastructure at the Green Energy Center Europe. REINFORCE Workshop: Quantum AI in operating energy infrastructures
The workshop at Green Energy Center Europe marked a deliberate starting point for engaging with Quantum AI not as an abstract future technology, but as a system-relevant approach embedded in ongoing project development activities. From the outset, the exchange was framed within real, operating energy and infrastructure contexts rather than isolated research discussions. The German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, visited our Codex and Project partner, AQT, accompanied by his Austrian counterpart, President Alexander Van der Bellen, and the Tyrol Governor, Anton Mattle. REINFORCE, Quantum Computing and Systemic Decision Spaces in Energy Systems – A systemic perspective from the GEC Codex Partnership
With the increasing complexity of energy systems, the challenge of coordinating supply, demand and system constraints is no longer primarily technological, but computational and systemic. High shares of renewables, sector coupling, storage, conversion technologies and cross-sector interactions lead to decision spaces that are highly dimensional, non-linear and interdependent. The European research project REINFORCE explores quantum computing–based optimisation approaches for these complex system problems. From the perspective of the GEC Codex Partnership, REINFORCE is particularly relevant where such approaches are not treated as abstract future technologies, but are considered against real system contexts provided by Living Labs.
